About
Michele Damato is a graphic designer and art director currently residing in Syracuse, New York. Originally from the New York Tri-state area, Michele received her graduate degree in Communications Design from Pratt Institute. While at Pratt, she studied typography with Tony DiSpigna, a partner in the legendary studio of Lubalin Associates. Michele did her graduate internship with Milton Glaser and traveled to Israel after winning a national poster competition, "Israel at Fifty", sponsored by the Israeli Consulate in New York. She was also invited to present her work to Prime Minister Ariel Sharon.
Michele specializes in art direction, concept development, design management, project management, and design research. She has over fifteen years experience working for small boutique design firms, Fortune 500 companies and non-profit organizations. She has collaborated with clients such as L’Oréal USA, BNP Paribas, Reuters, AT&T, JP Morgan, The Washington Post, Merrill Lynch, The Asia Society and Time Warner. Michele also teaches at Syracuse University and has taught at various institutions of higher education in the past.
She brings her passion for design history, typography and social/cultural research into her design solutions and methodology.
